ut I also thought at the that it didn't mean as much to me at that point, just winning the science fair, because I knew, and my dad knew, that I had actually built this fairly complicated logic machine and it worked. I mean, even as a kid it was obvious to me what the important thing really was.

ometimes I thing, man, I lucked out. It seems like I was justed pointed in such a lucky direction in life, this early learning of how to do things on tiny little step at a time. I learned to not worry so much about the outcome, but to concentrate on the step I was on and try to do it as perfectly as I could when I was doing it.

ow I mean a bit more cynical after seeing too many cases when intelligence in students is defined as everyone reading the same thing, including the same newspaper and magazine articles, and having the same answer, and agreeing with the way is presented. If you read the same things as others and say the same thing the say, then you're perceived as intelligent. I'm a bit more independent and radical and consider intelligence the ability to think about matters on your own and ask a lot of skeptical question to get at the real truth, not just what you're told it is.

Working on projects was something I did on my own time to reward myself, even though I wasn't getting rewarded on the outside, with money or other visible signs of success.

  《iWoz》读后感(四):change the world!

I so clearly remember him telling me that engineering was the highest level of importance you could reach in the world, that someone who could make electrical devices that do something good for people takes society to a new level. As an engineer, you can change the world and change the way of life for lots and lots of people. That's the reason why I choose the Computer Science as my major.

  《iWoz》读后感(五):做自己喜欢并且擅长的事情,do well + do good

His childhood stories really strike a cord with me.

it's weird how this book just touched me -- again it's like reading it with my right brain, all emotional and excited. When I read about the technical details (I have very little idea about ee...)I actually got goosebumps from all the excitement that Woz was able to convey. But this is about technical details!! Lovely, simply lovely.

Another thing is, a great engineer as Woz was, he actually ended up doing different things as well.

All in all I had great fun reading this book - it's very hard to put down once I start on it.

《iWoz》读后感(七):It's about never forgetting what makes a person happy in life and never forgetting one's dre

It's about never forgetting what makes a person happy in life and never forgetting one's dreams.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Getting butterflies in your stomach because you're afraid of failure when you have to talk or something.

ut I wanted to put chips together like an artist, better than anyone else could and in a way that would be the absolute most usable by humans

He thought that to see if something is true, the most important thing is to run experiments, to see what the truth is, and then you call it real/ you don’t just read something in a book or hear someone saying something and just believe it, not ever.

I mean, even as a kid it was obvious to me what the important thing really was, I said to myself, look, showing someone an award from a science fair is not as important as knowing you already have the award somewhere at home. And that’s not as important as having earned it, even if you don’t have the award at home at all. And that’s not important as the most important thing: that you’ve done the learning on your own to figure out how to do it.

I learned to not worry so much about the outcome, but to concentrate on the step I was on to try to do it as perfectly as I could when I was doing it.

  One step at a time.

I thought what if I’m in Vietnam and I’m shooting some guy? He’s just like me, that guy. He sits down just like I do. He plays cards and he eats pizza, or the equivalent of it, just like normal people I know. He has a family. Why should I want to hurt this person? He might have his reasons for being where he is in the world.

I finally came to the conclusion that even though our “Brazilian Best Wishes” sign didn’t come off, it wasn’t a failure. Some projects are worth the energy and worth spending a lot of time on, even if they don’t come out perfectly.

I’ve found that smart people often leave doors open. Maybe it’s because they have other things on their minds.

I never charged any money for it because this was my thing in life --- designing stuff --- this is what I loved to do. As I said before, it was my passion.

ut I kept going. You see, whenever I solve a problem on an electronic device I’m building, it’s like the biggest high ever. And that’s what drives me to keep doing it, even though you get frustrated, angry, depressed, and tired doing the same things over and over. Because at some point comes the Eureka moment. You solve it. And finally I got it, that Eureka moment.

I figured engineers are trained to invent and design their own things. An engineer would never look at another person’s design and copy it, would they? No, that’s what they go to school for. They go to learn how to design their own things.

I remember my father telling me way back then that it was education that would lift me up to where I wanted to go in life, that it could lift people up in values.

The only way to come up with something new --- something world-changing --- is to think outside of the constraints everyone else has. You have to think outside of the artificial limits everyone else has already set. You have to live in the gray-scale world, not the black-and-white one, if you’re going to come up with something no one has thought of before.

It’s so easy to doubt yourself, and it’s especially easy to doubt yourself when what you’re working on is at odds with everyone else in the world who thinks they know the right way to do things. Sometimes you can’t prove whether you’re right or wrong. Only time can tell that. But if you believe in your own power to objectively reason, that’s a key to happiness. And a key to confidence. Another key I found to happiness was to realize that I didn’t have to disagree with someone and let it get all intense.

You can be one. If you love what you do and are willing to do what it takes, it’s within your reach. And it’ll be worth every minute you spend alone at night, thinking and thinking about it is you want to design or build. It’ll be worth it.
