《The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings (Bantam Classics)》
《The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings (Bantam Classics)》
《The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings (Bantam Classics)》
在《道林•格雷的画像》中,Henry第一次提起婚姻的时候这样说:…the one charm of marriage is that it makes a life of deception absolutely necessary for both parties.(婚姻唯一的吸引力是它充满欺骗的生活对双方而言都变得必不可少。) 后来,他又大发议论,说“…even in love it is purely a question for physiology. It has nothing to do with our own will. Young men want to be faithful, and are not; old men want to be faithless, and cannot…”(…… 此外还有那句常被人引用的话——“Men marry because they are tired; women, because they are curious: both are disappointed.(男人因为疲倦而结婚,女人因为好奇而结婚,但两者都失望而归。)”
如Henry所说:“The only difference between a caprice and a lifelong passion is that the caprice lasts a little longer.”(反复无常的怪念头和长达一生的热情之间只有一个不同点,那就是反复无常的持续得稍久些。)
《The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings (Bantam Classics)》
