The Old Man and the Sea

  《The Old Man and the Sea》是一本由Ernest Hemingway著作,Scribner出版的Paperback图书,本书定价:USD 12.99,页数:128,文章吧小编精心整理的一些读者的读后感,希望对大家能有帮助

《The Old Man and the Sea》读后感(一):A man can be destroyed but can't be defeated

老人对锲而不舍的大鱼说:you are like my brother, but I'll kill you.

A man can be destroyed but can't be defeated.

《The Old Man and the Sea》读后感(二):basic english readding material

《The Old Man and the Sea》读后感(三):The success and failure

The old man is such a hero in my opinion; on technics. he knows exactly when and where is the best situation to get fish, he can find out if there is a huge storm according to the birds and sea life, he never worries about cannot find the way back home; on spiritual, he sees the different sides of the ocean and he loves both of them, he is the old man but has extraordinary power pulling the marlin for three days, he settles his mood down right after knows the sharks finish the entire fish, he treats his fish like brother and communicate with him.

ut the sadness is the old man's PRIDE. He cannot give up his pride is the most important reason drives him into the deep ocean and lets him end with death at last. That's also why he finds the big fish similar to himself. They both have pride and both are fighting for their own life. The big fish fights for his life by pulling the boat, old man fights for his pride. He doesn't want other fishermen's mock and he doesn't yield to the truth that he is aged and exhausted already. His pride is transient, disappears with his life together.

《The Old Man and the Sea》

  1. But, he thought, I keep them with precision. Only I have no luck anymore. But who knows? Maybe today. Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.

  2. Then he thought, think of it always. Think of what you are doing. You must do nothing stupid.

3."I'll kill him though," he said. "In all his greatness and his glory."

Although it is unjust, he thought. But I will show him what a man can do and what a man endures.

quot;I told the boy I was a strange old man," he said. "Now is when I must prove it."

Then thousand times that he had proved it meant nothing. ow he was proving it again. Each time was a new time and he never thought about the past when he was doing it.

  4. My hand is only cut a little and the cramp is gone from the other. My legs are all right. Also now I have gained on him in the question of sustenance.

  5. But, then, nothing is easy.

  6. "It is not bad," he said. "And pain does not matter to a man."

  7. "You did not do so dadly for something worthless," he said to his left hand.

  8. "But man is not made for defeat," he said. " A man can be destroyed but not defeated."

  9. "Fight them," he said. "I'll fight them until I die."

  10. He lay in the ster and steered and watched for the glow to come in the sky. I have half of him, he thought. Maybe I'll have the luck to bring the forward half in. I should have some luck. No, he said. You violated your luck when you went too far outside.

quot;Don;t be silly," he said aloud. "Ad keep awake and steer. You may have much luck yet.

quot;I'd like to buy some if there's any place they sell it," he said.

What could I buy it with? he asked himself. Could I buy it with a lost harpoon and a broken knife and two bad hands?

quot; You might," he said. " You tried to buy it with eighty-four days at sea. They early sold it to you too."

I must not think onosense, he thought. Luck is a thing that comes in many forms and who can recognize her? I would take some though in nay form and pay what they asked. I wish too many things. but that is the thing I wish for now. He tried to settle more comfortably to steer and from his pain he knew he was not dead.

《The Old Man and the Sea》

A man can be destroyed but not defeated。
